Textbroker is a great place to start your career as a freelance author. However, even with so many Open Order opportunities, one of the best ways to stabilize your productivity is to build relationships with clients. These relationships can lead to dearly coveted Direct Orders, giving you more potential to earn.
Be Active
The best way to build relationships with clients is to write for them. The more time you spend in the Open Order pool, the more time you have to meet new clients. Some clients provide limited feedback, but others may provide ratings or comments for your benefit. If these comments and ratings are positive, be sure to capitalize. Continue to look for orders from that client in the Open Order pool. Better still, if a client seems very pleased with your work as a freelance author, feel free to message them via the Textbroker system to offer your services through Direct Orders.
Be Reactive
When clients sign up at Textbroker, they are given access to the pool of authors. Clients can search for potential authors through various filters, which is why you may receive messages from clients checking your availability. If this happens, be sure to follow up! It is worth your time to do this quickly. Most clients will message multiple authors, and they may only respond to the first one or two that reply. If you want that opportunity, it is up to you to take it. In general, respond to messages from clients within a day. Some clients like a freelance author who will talk through an order with them, and you will miss out on orders if you do not engage.
Be Proactive
As mentioned, clients can search for specific authors to fulfill their needs. They do this by looking at your profile. Therefore, you should take time to fill yours out. The more information you can include, the better your profile will reflect your abilities, interests and availability. You want to list as many skills and as much content knowledge as possible in order to make sure clients know what you are capable of writing. If you can include your resume and sample work, that is even better. It can even be helpful to change your generic author name to something more memorable, and using a distinctive icon for your author image can also make you stand out from the crowd.
Building Relationships, Building Success
Sustained relationships with clients require sustained effort. As a freelance author, you need to consistently respond to clients, and the quality of your work should never waver. Learn to anticipate the client's needs in your work, and don't be afraid to go the extra mile. You need to be open to feedback and responsive to the revision process. If you take the time and make the effort, the relationship can be beneficial and longstanding.
