When you a) create an account, b) place or accept an order, c) communicate with us via email, phone, chat or other means, or d) otherwise use our website and service, we may ask you for certain personal data including your email, password, full name, company name, address, telephone number and payment information. Depending on the circumstances, we may use your personal data alone or with other information that we or others may gather.
For example, we and our partners might use your personal data to

We may share your personal data with our affiliates or partners to complete your orders. We also may share portions of your personal data with partners to make our website more attractive to you and audiences similar to you. For example, we may aggregate your email along with the emails of other users and transmit them to Google or Facebook to market to you or “lookalike audiences” through them.
We may disclose your personal data in response to the order of a court, a subpoena or similar action or to investigate or prevent potential illegal activities, fraud or violations of our terms of service. We also may disclose or transfer your personal data to our affiliates, investors or an entity that acquires us.
We may collect data that does not directly identify you. We may collect, disclose, transfer and use this data that is not personally identifiable for any purpose, including information about your visits to our website, the URL you were on before visiting our website, the pages you visited on our website and the links you clicked on when on our website.
As far as we use service providers for the handling and implementation of data processing, the contractual relationships are governed by the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
We will never commercially sell your personal data.
3. Consent and revocation
If you have provided us with personal data, you can ask us to delete this data at any time. We will delete your personal data, unless legal storage periods prevent us from doing so.
If you have consented to the processing of your personal data for specific purposes, e.g. for a newsletter, etc., you can revoke this consent at any time with future effect. We will then stop using your personal information. You can revoke your consent via the unsubscribe link in one of our emails or by sending an email to the address provided toward the end of these data protection guidelines.
Duration of storage: Personal data that has been provided to us through our website will only be stored until the purpose for which it was entrusted to us is fulfilled. As far as commercial and tax retention periods, which must be observed, the storage period for certain data may be up to 10 years.
4. Customer accounts
Customer account: When you open a customer account, you agree that your data such as name, address, email address, phone number and bank details, as well as your user data (user name, password) and IP address, will be stored.
Customer Accounts for Authors
If you register on our website as an author, we process personal data that you provide for the purpose of opening your customer account and creating your author profile. This is for documentation purposes and for processing and following up on your requests on the basis of Article 6, paragraph 1 a) or b) of the GDPR.
You can revoke your consent to receive information on Textbroker, industry updates and exclusive promotions by email at any time. You will find an unsubscribe link in each of our emails through which you can revoke your consent or by email to the address we have indicated in the data protection guidelines.
Customer Accounts for Clients
Textbroker International LLC and its parent Sario Marketing GmbH are commercial enterprises and use personal data of clients in a commercial and industrial context, as far as legally allowed or agreed with the client. If you create a customer account as a client, we assume that the data you provide us with is also commercial. We use the data you provide to create your account as well as to document, process and follow up your requests on the basis of Article 6, paragraph 1 a) of the GDPR. We also use your data for internal documentation and evaluations in order to constantly improve our service. The legal basis for this type of processing is Article 6, paragraph 1 f) of the GDPR.
5. Establishment of contact
Establishment of contact for authors
If you contact us by email, telephone, post or by using other means of communication or personal contact (e.g. at trade fairs, events), we process personal data (form of address, title, name, contact details) that you provide for the purpose of processing, documenting and following up your enquiry on the basis of Article 6, paragraph 1 b) or f) of the GDPR, as well as within the framework of the existing business relationship.
Establishment of contact for clients
If you contact us by e-mail, telephone, post or by using other communication channels or personal contact (e.g. at trade fairs, events), we process personal data (form of address, title, name, company, company address, company contact data) that you provide for the purpose of processing, documenting and following up your enquiry on the basis of Article 6, paragraph 1 b) or f) of the GDPR. We assume that all data that you provide in this way is company organization information or personal data in connection with the existing business relationship.
We reserve the right to use your data for sending information on Textbroker, industry updates, offers, and for surveys for quality assurance purposes. The legal basis for this is a legitimate interest on our part, as covered by Article 6, paragraph 1 f) of the GDPR. If you do not wish to receive any information from us, you can inform us of this via the withdrawal link in one of our emails or by sending an email to the address provided by us in the data protection guidelines.
6. Newsletter
By registering for the newsletter, your first name, last name and email address will be used with your consent for our own advertising purposes. Registration for the newsletter is performed via the double opt-in procedure (EU citizens only) to ensure the documentation of your consent to receive the newsletter.
The newsletter is sent by a service provider.
The email addresses of our newsletter recipients, as well as their further data described in the context of these notes concerning the newsletter, are stored on the service provider’s servers in Germany. The service provider uses this information for sending and evaluating the newsletter on our behalf. Consent to receive a newsletter by email can be revoked at any time. In each newsletter, you will find a link with which you can revoke your consent.
Statistical surveys and analyses
The newsletters contain a so-called “web-beacon”, i.e. a pixel-sized file that is retrieved from the service provider’s server when the newsletter is opened. Within the scope of this retrieval, technical information, such as information about the browser and your system, as well as your IP address and time of retrieval are initially collected. This information is used to technically improve the services based on the technical data or the target groups and their reading behavior based on their retrieval locations, which can be determined using the IP address, or access times.
The statistical surveys also include determining whether the newsletters are opened, when they are opened and which links are clicked. For technical reasons, this information can be assigned to the individual newsletter recipients. However, it is neither our nor the service provider’s endeavor to observe individual users. The evaluations serve us much more to recognize the reading habits of our users and to adapt our contents to them or to send different contents according to the interests of our users.
7. Push notifications
You can opt in to receive our push notifications. To send our push notifications, we use the delivery service “CleverPush”, which is provided by CleverPush UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Tondernstr. 1, 22049 Hamburg (“CleverPush”).
You will receive regular information about exciting online marketing topics – especially in the areas of content marketing, SEO, analytics, social media and better web texts – as well as about tips, tricks and exciting developments at Textbroker. Furthermore, you will receive exclusive discounts (e.g. voucher or BonusBack campaigns on text orders) and offers by Textbroker and their partners such as information regarding events, products or services.
To opt in, you must confirm your browser’s request to receive notifications. This process is documented and stored by CleverPush. This includes saving the opt in time and your browser ID or device ID. The collection of this data is required so that we can understand the processes in case of misuse and, therefore, serves our legal protection.
To show you the push notifications, CleverPush collects and processes your browser ID on our behalf and your device ID in the case of mobile access.
By subscribing to our push notifications, you agree to their receipt. Legal basis for the processing of your data after registration for our push notifications is in the presence of your consent Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. CleverPush also statistically evaluates our push notifications. CleverPush can detect if and when our push notifications were displayed and clicked by you.
Your consent to the storage and use of your personal information to receive our push notifications and the statistical survey described above may be revoked at any time with future effect. To revoke consent, you can change the setting to receive push notifications in your browser. If you use our push notifications on a desktop PC with the operating system “Windows,” you can also unsubscribe our push notifications by right-clicking on the respective push notification in the settings that appear there.
Your data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer necessary to achieve the purpose of their survey. Your data will be stored as long as the subscription to our push notifications is active.
Under the following link, the process of unsubscribing will be explained in detail: https://cleverpush.com/en/faq.
8. Use of cookies
The use of our website offers is made possible using cookies. A prerequisite for this is that you have activated cookies in your browser settings.
a) General information about the use of cookies
We use two types of “cookies.” Cookies are small files that typically consist of a sequence of text and numbers used to give you a unique ID. A “client cookie” is sent to your browser so that our system remembers your searches and tracks the pages you visit on our site as well as the services you use. A “server cookie” is installed on our system to recognize when you return to access this site again. This information enables us to better manage the website and customize our services to make them more user-friendly. We only evaluate the data collected in an anonymized form.
You can configure your browser so that you are notified of the receipt of a cookie or so that cookies cannot be received; in which case, you may be limiting the scope of the services you may expect when you visit our site.
Our use of cookies makes it possible, in particular, to determine the frequency of use and the number of users of our pages, to analyze user behavior while using our pages, and also to make our offers more customer-friendly. Cookies are stored at the end of a browser session and can be recalled when the page is visited again. If you do not want this to happen, we ask you to set your internet browser to refuse to accept cookies. Where necessary, a cookie will store your customer ID in order to recognize you as a registered customer.

c) WebAnalytics/ Google Analytics/ Google Remarketing/ Ads/Doubleclick by Google
This website uses Google Analytics and Google Remarketing web analytics services provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).
Google Analytics and Google Remarketing use “cookies” – text files which are stored on your computer and allow us to analyze your use of our website. When you visit our site, your data is collected by a cookie provided to us by Google. This data as well as the information generated about your use of this website (including your IP address) is transmitted to and stored on a Google server located in the US. Google will use the information to evaluate your use of our website, to compile reports about website activity for website operators and to provide other services related to website activity and Internet usage.
Google will also transfer this information to third parties if required by law or if third parties process this data on Google’s behalf. Google will never associate your IP address with other Google data. You can prevent the installation of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; however, please note that, if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of our website. By using our website, you agree to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes described above.
You can opt out of the collection of data for the future at any time by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en
Please note that this website uses Google Analytics with the extension “_anonymizeIp()”. As a result, IP addresses are stored exclusively in anonymous form, which rules out direct personal reference in connection with the stored data.
Using Google Remarketing allows third parties, including Google, to serve ads to sites on the internet. Third parties, including Google, use stored cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to our site. In addition, we use Google Analytics to analyze data from Google Ads and the DoubleClick-Cookie for statistical purposes and to display relevant targeted ads for you.
If you do not want this to happen, you can disable this function via the Ads Preferences Manager at: https://adssettings.google.com/u/0/authenticated?hl=en. Alternatively, you can disable the DoubleClick-Cookies via the Digital Advertising Alliance website at the following link: http://www.aboutads.info/choices/
DoubleClick by Google assigns your browser a pseudo identification number (ID). This is used internally to check which ads have appeared in your browser and which ads have been viewed. The cookies used do not contain any personal information. Using the DoubleClick cookie allows Google and its affiliate websites to serve ads based on prior visits to our, and other, websites and services on the Internet. The information generated by these cookies is transmitted by Google to a server in the USA for evaluation and stored there.
Ads also stores cookies on your device. When you visit our site, your data is collected by us through a cookie provided by Google. This data is then sent to Google. The cookie is set when a user clicks on an ad served by Google. This is not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of our offer, Google and the advertiser can then see they have been redirected to the page via the corresponding ad. Each Google Ads customer receives a different cookie. Thus, no conclusions can be drawn about user behavior on the advertiser‘s website. The data collected with the help of cookies serves statistical purposes. At no point in time will Ads advertisers receive information that could personally identify users.
You can find more information about terms of use and data protection either at: https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/us.html or at: https://policies.google.com/?hl=en.
d) Google reCAPTCHA
In order to ensure sufficient data security during the transmission of forms, in certain cases, we use the reCAPTCHA service from Google Inc. This serves primarily to distinguish whether the input is made by a natural person or misused by machine and automated processing. The service includes the sending of the IP address and possibly other data required by Google for the reCAPTCHA service. For more information about the privacy policy of Google Inc., please visit https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-US.
e) Google Tag manager
We also use the Google Tag Manager to set up and manage website tags. Tags are code used to measure traffic and visitor behavior. The tags come from other services – in our case, Bing Ads Tracking, Unbounce and Cleverpush (see below). The Google Tag Manager is used to manage these tags and does not set cookies or collect personal information. If tracking is disabled, this also applies to all tracking tags managed by Google Tag Manager.
f) Bing ads
We also use Bing Ads technology provided and operated by Microsoft Corporation (“Microsoft”). If you came to our website through Bing Ads, Microsoft places a cookie on your device. This allows Microsoft to recognize when someone has clicked on an ad, been redirected to our site and reached a specific destination page (conversion page). Microsoft collects and processes data through the cookie that is used to create user profiles using pseudonyms. These user profiles are used to analyze visitor behavior and are used to create advertisements. No personal data about the identity of the user is processed. If you do not wish this data about your behavior to be used, you can object to the necessary placement of a cookie under the following link: https://account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings/signedout. For more information on this topic and on Bing Ads, please visit the Microsoft website at https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement.
g) Kissmetrics
This website uses the Kissmetrics Analytical Service developed by Space Pencil Inc. (407 Morning Lane Redwood City, CA 94065). Kissmetrics-Tracking uses only first-party cookies. You can remove them simply by deleting your browser cookies. If you want to prevent Kissmetrics tracking in general, just activate the “Do-Not-Track” function in your browser. Kissmetrics will then no longer gather information in your browser.
Alternatively, you can exercise your right to opt out with future effect at: https://signin.kissmetrics.com/privacy/
Please note that you must repeat this procedure for each different device you use, and then delete all cookies or use a different browser afterwards.
h) Reddit conversion tracking
Our website uses the “Reddit Conversion Pixel,” an analysis service provided by Reddit Inc., 520 Third Street, Suite 305, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States. This tool places a cookie on your PC when you visit our website via a Reddit ad. The cookie is not used for personal traceability. If you visit our website, both we and Reddit will know that you clicked on the ad and were directed to our site.
Conversion statistics are generated using the data collected by conversion cookies. This tells us the total number of users who have responded to our ad and been directed to a web page with a Reddit pixel. This process does not provide us with any information that could personally identify you as a user. If you want to reject this tracking procedure, you can deactivate the storage of cookies via your internet browser. If necessary, use your browser’s help function for further information. You can find out more about Reddit’s privacy policy at https://www.reddit.com/help/privacypolicy/.
i) Unbounce
We use the tool Unbounce. The provider is Unbounce Marketing Solutions Inc, 400-401 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada, V6B 5A1. The EU Commission has classified Canada as a safe third country with an adequate level of data protection, and we have entered into a contract processing agreement with Unbounce Marketing Solutions Inc.
Individual subpages are hosted by Unbounce, and your browser communicates directly with unbounce, so your IP address is transmitted, and cookies can be set. Also, all information you enter on these pages will be saved by Unbounce. We will then be provided with an anonymous evaluation of your activities.
Further information about unbounce and data protection at Unbounce can be found here: https://unbounce.com/privacy/.
j) Social media plugins
We use various social media plugins on some of our web pages, including Facebook, Twitter and Google+ buttons. To ensure the security of your data, we have implemented the Shariff Wrapper on our website. This does not store any data about your internet behavior and does not allow any conclusions about you. Only when you click on the plugin is it activated and a connection to the network is established.
As for the individual social media plug-ins, we will inform you as follows:
i) Facebook plugin
We use the “Facebook-Button” Plugin on our web pages, which is developed by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (Facebook). You can use it to inform your friends whether you like our website, and to reference or share content. The plugin is indicated by the Facebook logo or by the addition of a “Like” label. Personal data can be transferred to Facebook via the plugin if you are logged in on that site.
When you visit our site, your data will be transmitted to Facebook to the same extent that it would be if you visited their website, even if you are not a registered user on Facebook and do not click a plugin on our pages. In this case, however, Facebook is not immediately able to make any direct personal reference by, for example, establishing your IP address. This would only be possible via information from your service provider.
Where applicable, the following data will be transmitted:
- IP address
- Your user ID, if you are registered and logged in to Facebook
- Date and time of your visit
- Browser version and operating system you are using, and screen resolution
- Visitor origins (Referrer), if you followed a link
- Installed plugins like Flash or Adobe Reader
- URL of our page on which the plugin is integrated.
If you are registered with Facebook, then their data protection regulations will also apply and can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation. This privacy policy also explains the precise purpose of the transmitted data.
ii) Twitter
The “Twitter” plugin, a microblogging service developed by the American company Twitter, Inc. (795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107), allows your browser to establish a direct connection to the Twitter servers, thus allowing the Twitter button to be loaded from there. Information can then be transmitted to Twitter indicating the corresponding website has been activated. Even if you are not logged in, Twitter can collect and save usage data as required. A prerequisite for this is that you must have activated the Twitter button and clicked on one of our web pages. You can then “tweet” information via an open Twitter window and then submit your tweeted information to Twitter. This information will then be published in your Twitter user profile. Further information on the collection, analysis and processing of your data by Twitter as well as your related rights, can be found in Twitter’s privacy policy, which is available at: https://twitter.com/privacy?lang=en.
iii) LinkedIn plugins
Our web pages use plugins developed by the LinkedIn Corporation (”LinkedIn”), 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. These plugins are indicated by the LinkedIn logo or appear as a “share button” (“Recommend”).
If you access LinkedIn from our site, LinkedIn collects information about your devices and networks.
As soon as you visit our website, your browser establishes a direct connection to LinkedIn’s servers. LinkedIn automatically obtains the URL of the webpage you came from or the page to which you are being directed. LinkedIn also receives the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address of your computer or the proxy server through which you access the Internet as well as information about your computer’s operating system and the web browser you use, your mobile device (including the mobile device identifier provided by your mobile device’s operating system), the operating system of your mobile device (if you are accessing LinkedIn from a mobile device) and the name of your Internet service provider or wireless service provider. LinkedIn may also receive geolocation information.
If you are logged into your account as a LinkedIn member while visiting our website and link the contents of this website to your LinkedIn profile, LinkedIn will be able to associate your visit to this website with your user account. The current data protection information from LinkedIn, in particular information about your rights and set-up options, is available on the following website: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy.
k) Mouseflow
This website uses Mouseflow, a web analytics tool developed by Mouseflow ApS, Flaesketorvet 68, 1711 Kopenhagen, Dänemark, to record randomly selected individual visits (using anonymized IP addresses only). The result is a log of mouse movements and clicks acquired with the intention of randomly sampling individual website visits and deriving potential improvements for the website. The information is not personal and will not be shared. If you do not want a record to be created, you can disable the function on all websites that use Mouseflow by visiting the following link: https://mouseflow.com/opt-out/.
l) Retargeting via AdRoll
This website uses AdRoll, the Web and Facebook Retargeting Software developed by the service provider Semantic Sugar Inc. (dba AdRoll), 972 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA (European location: AdRoll EMEA, Level 6; 1, Burlington Plaza Burlington Road; Dublin 4, Ireland). When you visit this website, cookies or smart pixels are set in your browser, which allow AdRoll to discern your interests and then show you our relevant product advertising when you visit your Facebook account. To obtain more information about AdRoll, you can view their privacy policy at: https://www.adrollgroup.com/privacy. There is no collection of personal data, and your IP address is stored in an anonymized form. No analysis takes place via your Facebook account, nor is a user profile created. You can delete the cookies via the settings in your browser. You can also opt-out of cookies by using the following portals: “Interest Based Advertising Policies”, “NAI opt out tool“ or “opt out via the DAA“.
m) Conversion measurement with Facebook Pixel’s visitor tracking
We employ “visitor action pixels” on our website developed by:
Facebook Inc.
1601 S. California Ave,
Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA
(“Facebook”)
on our website. When you visit our site, your data is collected by us through a cookie provided by Facebook. This data is then sent to Facebook. This means users’ behavior can be tracked after they have been redirected to a provider’s website by clicking on a Facebook ad. This process is designed to assess the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements for statistical and market research purposes and may help to optimize future advertising measures.
The data collected is anonymous to us, so we cannot reach any conclusions about the identity of the users. However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook, so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible, and Facebook can use the data for its own advertising purposes according to the following Facebook data usage directive: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. This facility enables Facebook and its affiliates to display ads both on Facebook and elsewhere. A cookie may be stored on your computer for these purposes.
A consent to the use of visitor action pixels may only be declared by users who are 13 years old and above. So, if you are younger, we request that you ask your parents or legal guardians for permission.
Please click here if you wish to withdraw your consent.
n) Outbrain Amplify and Outbrain Pixel
On our website, we use the Outbrain Amplify and Outbrain Pixel technologies from the provider Outbrain UK Ltd, 5 New Bridge Street, London, EC4V 6JA, United Kingdom (“Outbrain”). Among other things, these technologies store cookies on your terminal device. This enables us to refer you to our content again on third-party sites that have integrated the Outbrain widget. Outbrain gives you recommendations there through automatic control and delivery based on your previously read content.
The data processing is done on a pseudonym basis. For this purpose, Outbrain stores a UUID, your anonymised IP address, user agent data such as device type, (e.g. iPhone), browser type (e.g. Chrome), operating system, (e.g. iOS), the pages visited, the time of the visit, the referring URLs and other information normally transmitted during HTTP requests. Outbrain Pixel determines whether you have an Outbrain UUID. If there is a UUID associated with you, Outbrain may retarget that UUID, and/or provide us with the total number of UUIDs that have reached that page. Unless there was an Outbrain UUID on the page, Outbrain Pixel does not collect any data about the user. Data points such as page views and clicks are associated with a specific UUID and are stored for 13 months.
The legal basis is your consent according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR, which you can revoke with effect for the future. In addition, you can object to the tracking for the display of interest-based recommendations by Outbrain at any time. Please note that you must set the opt-out separately in each end device you use to access our websites. After opting out, you will continue to be offered interesting additional content; however, this will no longer be based on your previous usage behaviour on our websites. If you do not want this, you can deactivate Outbrain here: https://my.outbrain.com/recommendations-settings.
Insofar as data is transferred to the United Kingdom when using Outbrain, an adequacy decision is in place from the EU Commission in which it has decided that this provides an adequate level of protection. For more information on Outbrain’s data protection, please visit http://outbrain.com/legal/privacy.
