Getting To Know You
Learn how to effectively complete an author profile that will attract clients.
We’ve been getting a lot of emails about this particular topic, and we see that the question has been asked many times on the forum. While there is a “percent complete” area on every author’s profile, it’s not always clear what actually contributes to filling this bar. This post will go through all the steps you should take to complete your Textbroker author profile. You can also watch the informative video we've put together on the subject.
General Info Tab
You can make your resume as general or as detailed as you like, but please do not list your contact information. References or the contact information for previous employers also should not be included. You certainly can and should list any educational background you have.
You can use your mouse or the arrow keys to set your capacity. Your capacity is not a requirement but merely an estimate of how much you can do. This helps clients plan out large projects.
Files should be less than 2 MB, and the image’s dimensions should be relatively small. While the picture will automatically re-size for the space available, if the picture itself is too big, even if the file is small, the image won’t upload correctly. You do not have to use a picture of yourself, but please keep images appropriate and respectful of copyright.
Please choose your highest level of education. Only one choice is possible.
You can choose up to five industries; however, choosing just one industry will complete this section of your profile. Of course, for maximum earning potential, including more opportunities writing on lucrative teams or by receiving DirectOrders, we suggest providing clients with as much information as possible.
Type of Writing
You can choose up to five types of writing; however, choosing just one type of writing will complete this section of your profile.
Please choose items that have not been accepted by Textbroker clients as samples. Let’s say, for example, that you have posted three writing samples in your author profile. You will notice at the top of this tab, in the right corner, it says “Available Writing Samples: 0.” This means that you have provided all three writing samples, and this section is full. It does not mean that there are no writing samples available for clients to see, which we know has been a source of confusion for some authors.
Entering your native language will complete this section of your profile. If you are fluent in a language other than English, adding this information can attract clients who place orders written in other languages.
Adding two interests will complete this section of your profile. Adding a third interest, while great for attracting clients, will not increase your profile completion percentage. We suggest that you be as detailed as you can be here. If you are interested in sports, mention favorite teams. If you have unusual interests or hobbies, include them as well. You could be interested in sports generally, but if you have watched every Olympics since you were 10 years old, that might be a good thing to put down.
Adding 10 places will complete your profile. You can add the following types of places:
- National parks
- Universities and colleges
We’ve aimed to provide a variety of options in this list so that everyone will be able to find 10 locations that they have lived in or visited. When you have all of this information entered, your profile will be 100 percent complete!
As always, please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns. We sincerely appreciate all that you do. Have an outstanding weekend, and thank you for sharing your talents at Textbroker.
