How we evaluate your work – and how you can increase your quality rating

Our experienced team of editors first evaluates your signup article and rates your content from 3 to 5 stars. Each article is analyzed, and one will be selected for rating and detailed feedback. Star levels are determined by the rating of that article. Authors who have been recently demoted are then prioritized for a quicker rating. We rate all content based on spelling, grammar, punctuation, structure, style, readability, order compliance and other factors.

It is important for you to submit error-free work in order to meet our high quality standards. Our rating criteria are as follows:

Spelling: Frequency of misspellings, typos, missing words and repeated words

Grammar: Things like syntax, agreement, and possessives
    • Average
    • Very good
    • Excellent
Punctuation: Frequency of comma, colon, and semicolon errors and overuse of dashes, parentheses, ellipses, and exclamation points
    • Comma errors occur approximately 50 percent of the time. Colon and semicolon errors and the overuse of dashes, parentheses, ellipses, and exclamation points usually occur.
    • Comma errors can occur infrequently. Occasional overuse of dashes, parentheses, ellipses, and exclamation points.

Style: Frequency of awkward phrasing, choppy sentences, and lack of flow
